Original Focus of Advent
Historically the season of Advent started the first Sunday following the 30th of November and continued for four weeks. During these four weeks believers spent time reflecting on Jesus’s arrival but also the impact of his life on their own. This time of reflection focused on three original lessons.
- The meaning of God coming to earth in human form. (Phil 2:6-7 )
- Consider how Jesus as savior has changed their eternal destiny (2 Cor 5:17)
- Reminds us that Jesus is coming back, it wasn’t a one time encounter! (Acts 1:11)
This advent season we encourage you to take time out of your day and spend it with your Heavenly Father, meditating on his word. There are 24 chapters in the Gospel of Luke – one for each day between December 1st and Christmas Eve – so it is a perfect biblical “Advent Calendar” for you this year!
Please join us next week as we examine the first lesson above: The meaning and significance of God coming to earth in human form.
