Annual Meeting 1-21-24

– Pastor Ben Landes gave opening greeting and then asked Kevin Davis to open the time in prayer.

– Pastor Ben Landes started the meeting with Church Business.

– Pastor Ben Lanes highlighted the Benevolent Fund Guidelines that have been put in place to help those in need and let them know we have an Application for Assistance. He also thanked those who give faithfully to the fund and let them know we’ve helped a lot of people recently.

– Pastor Ben Landes also highlighted Elder Expectations and a little bit about the process we are thinking of doing. Asked congregation to be praying for Leadership Development. Pastor Ben Landes asked Elder Jon Therrien to pray for Elders.

– Pastor Ben Landes did a short presentation about a local project called 4 Day Movement and their development of the Portal project. Purpose being to see if the congregation would be interested in pursuing involvement.

 

· Church Member Ashley Landes explained a little more about what all they plan to do with the portals.

· Church Member Kevin Davis asked if we are still supporting another local charity the Fordham House? Citing that it would be redundant to support both. Elder Randy Zink responded to Kevin Davises question by saying that we have no supported Fordham House for about 7 or 8 years.

· Church Member Ronny McIver asked if this was just a local project or something that can be found nationwide? Local.

· Church Member Christina Bruggeman asked what point they are at in the project? In the works.

· Church Member Jeff Lane gave testament to the benefit of the possibility of the project. He pointed out that they want and need volunteers and hopes that we get involved.

· Member Tina Peay pointed out that other Churches are involved.

· Pastor Ben Landes emphasized that we aren’t pushing for a vote because the place isn’t even open yet.

· Jennifer McIver asked if they have government funding? Yes.

· Members Melanie Sawyer and Vanessa Therrien talked about how because they want people to come in to get involved with the people there, we could take things to them like D-Groups and classes like Financial Peace University.

· Elder Bryon Sawyer talked about there are a lot of great programs out there but emphasized short comings of groups like Tommy’s Foundation who are doing good things but as volunteers we didn’t have much input or ability to connect with the people we met.

· Church Member Christina program encouraged us to keep an ongoing discussion about getting involved. Emphasized planning. Don’t want our Church to be stretched to thin.

· Church Member Anne Finch said that we should have the 4-Day Movement come talk.

· Pastor Ben Landes asked if we want to make a motion to get involved.

· Church Member Jeff Lane motioned that we pursue getting involved.

· Elder Bryon Sawyer emphasized the word “Pursue” and not a hard “Yes. We are doing this.”.

· Church Member Amanda Unruh via online attendance added that she thinks we should support.

· Motion of Support Jeff Lane 1st and Vanessa Therrien 2nd and All in Favor.

 

– Pastor Ben Landes moved from the talk about 4 Day Movement to receiving and accepting the Ministry Reports that had all be submitted the Sunday prior to the meeting.

– Church Member Vanessa Therrien referred to the earlier discussion about the Benevolent Fund Guidelines and asked if there needed to be a motion. Pastor Ben said that the guidelines had already been discussed and decided by the Elders but if anyone had any questions or input, we could open it up. No one had anything further to add.

– Pastor Ben asked if the congregation wanted to receive the Ministry Reports. Church Member Debbie Zink motioned to receive the Ministry Reports and Church Member Mary Davis 2nd. All in favor.

– Finances by Treasurer Kurt Bruggeman.

· Church Member Mary Davis asked why is Christian Education being increased since we only spent $700.00. Pastor Ben Landes mentioned that there are things we are planning on doing. Elder Randy Zink emphasized that the budget line was similar to last year.

– Motion to Receive Church Budget for 2024. Bryon Sawyer 1st, Jeff Lane 2nd. All in favor.

– Pastor Ben Landes thanked Treasurer Kurt Bruggeman for all he does and former Treasurer Debbie Zink before him.

– Pastor Ben Landes moved us forward to approving Church Officers.

· Church Member Ron Rae asked for clarification that there will only be four elders? Yes four.

– Motion to vote all at once or one by one. 1st Debbie Zink, 2nd Mary Davis. All in favor and no further questions.

– Before closing in prayer Pastor Ben Landes encouraged the congregation to ask any questions, they may have that come up throughout the year.
